Specific causes of bearing natural wear

2021-07-16

The specific reasons of bearing natural wear are as follows:
The tiny peaks and valleys on the surface of the friction layer squeeze each other, which makes the brittle surface layer gradually fall off and wear.
① Oxidation wear. The tiny peaks and valleys on the surface of the relative motion of the bearing are combined with the oxidation in the air to form a brittle oxide which is not firmly bonded with the base metal. The oxide is easy to fall off in the friction, and the wear is called oxidation wear.
② When the bearing works under the condition of high speed, heavy load and poor lubrication, high temperature, hardness and wear resistance of the contact point decrease, even adhesion and tearing occur at the peak and valley of the surface due to friction. This kind of wear is called friction heat generation wear.
③ Hard wear. If the bearings are in relative motion. The movement surface of the bearing is unevenly organized, and there are hard particles, or impurities such as sand, debris and chips fall into the movement surface of the bearing. In the relative movement of the bearing, the hard particles or impurities will scratch the surface of the bearing and even form grooves. This kind of wear is called hard particle wear.
④ Pitting wear. The rolling contact surfaces of gears and bearings are subjected to great contact pressure periodically in the relative process, and the fatigue phenomenon occurs on the metal surface for a long time, resulting in micro cracks and denudation on the bearing surface. This kind of wear is called pitting wear.
Cause rust or corrosion, chemical corrosion caused by wear. The surface of bearing is eroded by acid, alkali, salt liquid or harmful gas. This kind of wear is called chemical corrosion.
The change of metallographic structure or chemical composition of the metal reduces the wear resistance and hardness of the bearing surface and speeds up the wear process. This kind of wear is called high temperature wear.
Corrosion damage due to temporary contact with water, acid, alkali, salt and other liquids or harmful gases: non moving bearings on equipment. Corrosion damage is caused by rust or corrosion.
