Influence of bearing radial clearance adjustment on service life

Each bearing has a pre calculated service life. However, research shows that not all bearings can reach this service life for various reasons. In the bearing life cycle, some stages have an important impact on the service life of the bearing. These stages are installation and initial lubrication, alignment, supplementary lubrication, basic condition monitoring and disassembly.
These stages in the bearing life cycle are very important to obtain the maximum service life of the bearing. Through the correct implementation of maintenance and the use of appropriate tools, you can significantly prolong the service life of bearings and improve plant productivity and production efficiency.
It includes temperature, noise, speed and vibration measurement instruments. During operation, it is important to regularly detect the state of bearings by basic condition monitoring means, such as temperature, vibration and noise measurement. Regular inspection can find potential faults and help prevent accidental shutdown. Therefore, an equipment maintenance plan consistent with the production plan can be arranged to improve the productivity and production efficiency of the factory.
The common methods to adjust the radial clearance of bearings are as follows:
1. In principle, it is not allowed to scrape and adjust the clearance of multi oil wedge fixed bearing bush. If the clearance is inappropriate, replace it with a new one.
2. For the side clearance of cylindrical and elliptical bearing shells, it can be adjusted by manual grinding and scraping or padding the bearing split surface after turning
3. For the top clearance of cylindrical and oval bearing shells, it can be adjusted by manual grinding and scraping or adding pad to the bearing split when circumstances permit.
4. For multi oil wedge tilting bearing bush, it is not allowed to scrape the pad. If the clearance is not appropriate, the pad shall be replaced. For tile with adjustable thickness, the amount of tile can be adjusted by adjusting the stainless steel pad on the back of the tile or reducing the thickness of the adjustment block. Note that for multi oil wedge tilting bearing bush, the thickness error between the same group of pads shall be less than 0.01mm.
