Hardness of deep groove ball bearing

2020-12-06

How much is the hardness of deep groove ball bearing? Many customers will ask, which is also one of the indicators to distinguish carbon steel bearing from bearing steel bearing.
The inner and outer rings and steel balls of deep groove ball are made of high chromium steel GCr15 or GCr15SiMn (high chromium steel, commonly referred to as bearing steel). The hardness of deep groove ball bearing ring is in Rockwell hrc60-65; however, it is usually about 62 degrees, which is too high, the bearing is too brittle, and the bearing is easy to be damaged. The hardness of deep groove ball bearing ball is in Rockwell hrc60-66. Among them, the hardness of ball made of GCr15 bearing steel is in the range of Rockwell hrc62-66; the hardness of roller made of GCr15SiMn bearing steel is in the range of Rockwell hrc60-64, and the hardness of ball is in the range of Rockwell hrc60-66. The hardness of carbon steel deep groove ball bearing is usually only Rockwell 50-55 degrees, so it is not suitable for high strength work.
In order to better understand hardness, we use common objects in life to explain hardness
The hardness of kitchen knives for home use is generally around HRC50, and the cutting tools are pure, and the hardness is also within Rockwell HRC60. The hardness of the tool head on the machine tool is about 62 degrees. So the hardness of deep groove ball bearing is relatively hard.
